The CRL of the CA can be retrieved in various formats:

binary (suggested)
to install automatically into standard applications, such as browsers and MUAs
ASCII
a human-readable form of the certificate
DER
binary DER format
PEM
a message in RFC 1422 format
Base64
binary Base64 encoded format
old CRL
old CA CRL files in PEM format
